National Tax Service Imposes 53.7 Billion KRW Additional Tax on Wemade Related to WEMIX
Wemade announced on the 3rd that it has been imposed a supplementary tax amounting to 53.7 billion KRW by the Central Regional Tax Office.
The imposed amount corresponds to 10.05% of its equity capital, and the reason for the imposition is a corporate tax integrated audit from 2019 to 2022.
The imposed amount is the sum of the amounts stated in the tax audit result notices imposed on Wemade and Wemade Tree. Wemade Tree was absorbed and merged into Wemade on February 9, 2022, due to a small-scale merger. It is known that the supplementary tax was imposed as a result of the tax audit on the virtual asset WEMIX issued by Wemade and Wemade Tree.

A Wemade official stated, "The tax amount arose from the accounting and tax treatment of WEMIX used from 2019 to 2022, and we plan to pay it faithfully," adding, "As the previously uncertain tax treatment of virtual assets becomes clearer, we expect business stability to improve."
