Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Receives Presidential Award in Ministry of Health and Welfare's Excellent Self-Sufficiency Municipality Evaluation
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 26th that it has been awarded the prestigious Presidential Award in the '2023 Excellent Local Governments in the Self-Sufficiency Sector' organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluated 16 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, as well as 229 basic local governments, across four overall self-sufficiency areas: self-sufficiency labor, asset-building support projects, activation of self-sufficiency funds, and operation of self-sufficiency projects.
The district received high scores evenly across all areas and was awarded the highest Presidential Award.
Through two local self-sufficiency centers (Eodeung Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, Gwangsan Regional Self-Sufficiency Center), the district provides jobs to approximately 600 low-income individuals on a monthly average.
