Elementary School Student Kidnapped, 200 Million Won Ransom Demanded... Man in His 40s Urgently Arrested
A man who attempted to extort money by kidnapping an elementary school student was arrested by the police.
On the 20th, the Dobong Police Station in Seoul announced that they had urgently arrested a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (kidnapping of a child under 13 years old).
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of kidnapping an elementary school student on their way to school at an apartment in Dobong-gu, Seoul, the previous morning, and then threatening the child's parents to demand 200 million won in cash.
After receiving the report, the police tracked Mr. A and arrested him at around 5:15 p.m. the previous day.
