Paju Tanhyeon-myeon, Gwangtan-myeon, and Unjeong 4-dong 'Ddokbeoseu' Service Starts from the 18th
A new concept transportation service called 'Ddokbus,' which allows passengers to board at their desired time and place and travel to their desired destination, will begin operating in Tanhyeon-myeon, Gwangtan-myeon, and Unjeong 4-dong in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced that from the 18th, they will conduct a pilot operation of the Paju Ddokbus, and from the 27th, they will officially start operating a total of nine vehicles. The vehicles are 13-seat Hyundai Solati models, with three vehicles operating in each of Tanhyeon, Gwangtan, and Unjeong 4-dong. Operating hours are daily from 5:30 AM to midnight.
The Paju Ddokbus began pilot operations in 2021 in Unjeong and Gyohwa, and due to increased demand, five additional vehicles were added in October this year. Following this, the service area has been expanded to Tanhyeon, Gwangtan, and Unjeong 4-dong, with a total of 24 vehicles now in operation.
Ddokbus is a unique brand of the Gyeonggi Province demand-responsive transport system (DRT), meaning "a bus that moves smartly."
Ddokbus is a customized public transportation service that flexibly transports passengers in new towns or transportation-vulnerable areas without fixed routes or predetermined schedules, responding to passenger calls.
Unlike conventional buses with fixed routes, Ddokbus uses the latest information and communication (IT) technology based on user location information to create optimal travel routes in real-time according to passenger demand.
Passengers can call and pay for Ddokbus through the integrated transportation platform app 'Ddokta,' operated by Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation. When passengers enter their desired departure and arrival locations in the app, it provides real-time guidance on routes, boarding points, and boarding and alighting times based on the nearest operating Ddokbus vehicle.
Passengers board the Ddokbus at the designated boarding point and estimated boarding time. If passengers with similar routes book at the same time, a detour route is automatically created for shared rides. The fare is 1,450 KRW, and integrated metropolitan area transfer discounts apply when using transportation cards.
Previously, Gyeonggi Province has been operating 119 Ddokbus vehicles across 11 cities and counties as part of its expansion plan, with a cumulative total of approximately 1.5 million passengers.
Following Paju, Gyeonggi Province plans to expand Ddokbus to Janghowon-eup and Yul-myeon areas in Icheon later this month.
