Kakao Included in 2023 DJSI World Index for 3 Consecutive Years
Selected by S&P Global
Kakao announced on the 11th that it has been included in the 2023 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World Index by S&P Global for the third consecutive year.
Kakao was first included in the DJSI World Index, as well as the DJSI Asia Pacific Index and DJSI Korea Index in 2021, and has continued to be listed since then. This year, it was also selected as the top company in the "Interactive Media, Services & Home Entertainment (IMS)" industry group, which includes major online service companies.
The company received high scores in evaluation categories such as ▲transparent reporting ▲materiality assessment ▲climate change strategy ▲safety and health. Efforts to enhance information disclosure through ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reports and policies, joining the global initiative RE100, establishing environmental-related principles, and strengthening human rights and supply chain management contributed positively.
DJSI is a global sustainability index that evaluates companies comprehensively based on both economic performance and ESG performance. This year, out of 2,544 global companies evaluated based on free-float market capitalization, 320 companies, accounting for 12.6%, were included. Among them, 22 were domestic companies. In the IMS industry group, 92 companies were evaluated, and only six were included in the World Index. Kakao is the only domestic company included.
Kakao also received an integrated A grade for the third consecutive year in the "2023 ESG Evaluation and Rating Announcement" released last month by the Korea ESG Standards Institute. It received an A+ in the environment and social sectors and an A grade in governance. Kakao Games and Kakao Pay also received integrated A grades.
