Ruling and Opposition Parties Officially Agree to "Process Next Year's Budget Bill by the 20th in the Plenary Session"
The ruling and opposition parties agreed on the 8th to hold plenary sessions on the 20th and 28th of this month and January 9th to pass next year's budget bill and other legislation.
Lee Yang-su, Senior Deputy Floor Leader of the People Power Party, and Park Ju-min, Senior Deputy Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a meeting at the National Assembly that morning and reached this agreement.
According to the agreement, the December extraordinary session will be held for 30 days starting from the 11th. Next year's budget bill will be passed by the plenary session on the 20th, and plenary sessions for agenda processing will be held on the 20th, 28th, and January 9th of next year.
The agreement states that "the 2024 budget bill will be passed by the plenary session on December 20," and also includes the phrase, "Both parties will strive to pass urgent livelihood bills within the year."

After the meeting, Senior Deputy Floor Leader Lee Yang-su told reporters, "We agreed that both parties will do their best to pass livelihood bills by holding one more plenary session on January 9, the last day of the extraordinary session." The opposition party's proposed "Double Special Prosecutor Law (Kim Geon-hee and Daejang-dong special prosecutors)" will be automatically submitted to the plenary session on the 28th.
