Dong-A University Department of Child Studies Completes 'Nori·Kium' Human Rights Campaign Program
Student Community Capacity Building Program, Local Community Organizations Also Participate
The Department of Child Studies at Dong-A University (Department Head An Hyeryeong) has concluded the ‘Human Rights Play and Human Rights Nurturing Campaign’ conducted to strengthen the power of the community.
The Child Studies Department developed and produced the program titled ‘A World of Children Opened by Play, Our Precious Minds and Bodies, Human Rights Play and Human Rights Nurturing Campaign’ and carried it out this semester through on-site dispatch activities.
About 80 people attended the final results presentation recently held at Gyeongdong Hall on Seunghak Campus, including professors from the Child Studies Department, students enrolled in the ‘Children’s Rights and Welfare’ course, a mentor group composed of graduate students and alumni, and members of the undergraduate club ‘Baljaguk’.

View original imageOn this day, the Child Studies Department reported the final results along with an exhibition of the production process and held an awards ceremony for the ‘Excellence Award in Human Rights Play Development,’ ‘Excellence Award in Human Rights Play Group Cooperation,’ and ‘Special Award in Human Rights Nurturing.’
The program ‘A World of Children Opened by Play, Our Precious Minds and Bodies’ is part of the ‘2023 2nd Semester DAU Department-Level Student Community Capacity Building Program’ hosted by the Dong-A University Innovation Project Group.
The program was conducted in solidarity with members of local community organizations, children users, guardians, and citizens, involving three institutions: Busan Saha Elementary School, Gangseo Daon Kindergarten, and Gangseo District Childcare Support Center.
Human rights play and human rights nurturing campaigns were carried out with activities tailored to the developmental stages of infants and children, including ‘Reply, Friend!’, ‘Emotions! Speak with Your Body’, ‘Let’s Play in the Forest of Human Rights’, ‘Filling the Wish Basket’, ‘Connecting You and Me!’, ‘Emotion Exploration Team’, and ‘Let’s Create Our Playground’.
Department Head An and Professor Lee Seunghee, who supervised the program, said, “It was amazing to see the potential and synergy of individual students and groups being realized, and we confirmed that the bonds among department members have been strengthened as a community. Since this program was led by students aspiring to become early childhood and child experts and created together by seniors and juniors, we will continue to provide advice and support.”

Student Lee Jihye, leader of the ‘Wise Team’ who received the ‘Excellence Award in Human Rights Play Development’ on this day, shared her thoughts: “It was an opportunity to deeply think about and experience human rights and respect for rights, and it was a valuable experience to develop my capabilities as a prospective child expert.”
