Gominjeong "Former Democratic Party Leader's New Party? Disappointing... Choo Mi-ae Unlikely to Return to Gwangjin"
Opposition Supreme Council Member, SBS Radio Interview
"Seniors Who Emphasized 'Party Loyalty' Now Criticize the Party"
Ko Min-jung, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed that she is "disappointed in many aspects" regarding reports of opposition figures, including former leader Song Young-gil, planning to establish a new party.
On the 5th, Ko stated on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' "The opposition party should demonstrate its role in checking the government, but the former leader seems to be splitting the party and amplifying critical voices. It makes me question the sincerity of the loyalty to the party that was once expressed."

Referring to former leader Lee Nak-yeon, who hinted at founding a new party, Ko agreed on the necessity of a third party. She said, "I strongly believe that the outcome of this general election will be determined by various forces coming together rather than the Democratic Party facing the Yoon Seok-youl administration alone."
However, she added, "While it is right that anyone should participate, it is inappropriate for those who have served as leaders of the Democratic Party to go out and do something else."
Regarding speculation that former Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae might return to contest Ko’s constituency in Gwangjin District, Seoul, in next year’s general election, Ko responded cautiously, saying, "I understand that is not the case, and I think so as well."
On reports that Kim Hong-il, a former prosecutor and current Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission member, has been nominated as chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, she said, "I sighed as soon as I saw it. Is the talent pool really this lacking?" She questioned, "This is not a position that can be filled by just anyone; some experience in broadcasting and communications is necessary, but what experience does this person have?"
