This project, which began nationwide for the first time in 2021, aims to convert old land registers created over 100 years ago in Chinese characters and Japanese-style notation into Hangul and digitize them.
Currently, Chungnam Province has completed the project in 7 cities and counties, and it is expected that the project will be finished in 3 more cities and counties within this year.
Next year, the conversion and digitization work will be carried out in the remaining 5 cities and counties, with plans to complete it within the year.
The completed land registers are widely used for tasks such as finding ancestral land, verifying the history of land ownership changes, checking land transfer history, and land compensation and taxation related to land development projects.
In particular, the ancestral land search and safe inheritance services are considered highly utilized and of great interest, with about 20,000 people applying last year.
