AstraZeneca Korea Appoints Jeon Se-hwan as New CEO
AstraZeneca Korea (AZ) announced on the 1st that Jeon Se-hwan, the current AZ Indonesia representative, has been appointed as the new representative of AZ Korea.
Jeon, who joined AZ in 2015 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of AZ Korea, has contributed to AZ's growth by leading the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) business division at AZ Korea, serving as AZ Indonesia representative, and managing the CVRM business division and chronic disease brands in the Asia region.
Over the past three years, Jeon served as the AZ Indonesia representative and led various organizational culture innovations. During this period, the company’s sales more than doubled in three years, becoming the top multinational pharmaceutical company in sales in Indonesia and establishing itself as the fastest-growing company in the industry. This year, it also drove sales growth of over 28% compared to the same period last year and grew the company’s portfolio to the number one brand in multiple therapeutic areas.
Meanwhile, beyond business performance, Jeon has taken the lead in realizing the company’s values within the organization, including sustainability, diversity, and inclusion (Diversity & Inclusion). In line with AZ’s 'Ambition Zero Carbon' goal aiming for carbon neutrality by 2025 and carbon negativity by 2030, Jeon quickly implemented the Green Fleet initiative in the region through public-private cooperation during his tenure as AZ Indonesia representative. He has also served as the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) lead in the Asia region, passionately working to ensure that all employees are recognized and respected for their diversity in the workplace.
New representative Jeon Se-hwan said, “I am pleased to rejoin AZ Korea. Jeon graduated from Korea University with a degree in Business Administration and earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining AZ, he held various roles including Country CFO at Novartis Malaysia, global head of development, product strategy, and commercialization at Novartis headquarters in Switzerland. He also led strategic planning at Novartis headquarters in the United States and served in leadership roles such as head of finance for the cardiovascular business division.
