'Overseas Sold-Out Streak' Frozen Gimbap and Gochu Mandu Land in Korea... Collection Event at Emart
From the 1st for two weeks, 'Overseas Hit' Foods like Frozen Gimbap
Kkauje Spring Roll & Chicken Gochu Dumplings... Popular in Japan, Gyeongwol Soju Too
Emart announced on the 1st that it will showcase popular overseas food items such as gimbap, snacks, alcoholic beverages, and frozen products for two weeks until the 14th of this month. The selection focuses on products made by Korean manufacturers that are not sold domestically but have gained great popularity overseas in countries like the United States, China, and Southeast Asia.
They will sell frozen gimbap and yubu burdock gimbap, which are causing sold-out streaks in the United States. The advantages include a price cheaper than the US retail price (3 to 4 dollars) and convenience, as they can be eaten after just 2 to 3 minutes in the microwave.
A "gimbap craze" is sweeping the United States. Gimbap tasting videos on social networking services (SNS) have been viewed over 10 million times in two weeks, and various marts are experiencing not only sell-outs but also pre-order rushes. The news of gimbap’s popularity in the US sparked much curiosity domestically, and Emart recognized this and secured the same specification frozen gimbap quantities sold in the US.
They will also introduce "Orion O’Tube Sweet Chili," which has achieved high sales in Southeast Asia. Orion, recognizing the popularity of the American national snack Veggie Straws (vegetable + straw-shaped snack), emphasized the tube shape of Ogamja and launched O’Tube. Among the five seasonings sold in the US, the sweet chili seasoning, which best suits Korean tastes, will be offered.
During the event period, "Ottogi Bodeulbodeul Cheese Ramen" will also be sold. Considering that purchasing it through direct import costs about 20,000 won including customs and shipping fees, it can be obtained at about one-quarter of that price. Bodeulbodeul Cheese Ramen was a product sold in Korea about 10 years ago. After being discontinued domestically, it was sold mainly in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and the US, maintaining steady popularity overseas. It was even ranked 9th in the popular cup ramen rankings in Taiwan.
They will also sell "CJ Cauze Spring Roll 2 types (Vegetable and Seafood)," which is gaining popularity in Vietnam. This product, created through collaboration between CJ Vietnam and the local brand Cauze, features a unique net-patterned skin and a crispy texture using rice paper. The generously filled filling realizes the local distinctive umami flavor.
