Dong-A University Wins Award in 'Safety Content Contest for Genetically Modified Organisms for Testing and Research'
Students from the Department of Bioresource Industry at Dong-A University won an award at the nationwide "4th Contest for Safety Content on Genetically Modified Organisms for Testing and Research."
This contest, held under the main theme of "Improving Awareness of Genetically Modified Organisms for Testing and Research and Creating a Safe Research Environment," was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology and the National Research Safety Management Headquarters.
A team consisting of third-year students Moon Geon-Young, Kim Gyu-Heon, and Jung Ye-Ri from Dong-A University's Department of Bioresource Industry produced a video titled "The most beautiful flower," winning the Director's Award (Encouragement Award) from the National Research Safety Management Headquarters and a prize of 1 million KRW.

View original imageIn their video, they used stop-motion techniques to express the usefulness of genetically modified organisms and the importance of safety management, helping the public understand and contributing to the formation of a safety consensus and the spread of a safety culture regarding genetically modified organisms (LMO).
