Former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Choi Nak-jeong Passes Away
Choi Nak-jeong, who served as Minister and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries during the Roh Moo-hyun administration, passed away on the 26th after battling a cerebral hemorrhage.
Born in 1953 in Goseong, Gyeongnam, the late Choi graduated from Yongsan High School and Korea University with a degree in law. He passed the 17th Administrative Examination in 1975 and worked at the Korea Maritime and Port Administration and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. He served as Director of the Fisheries Distribution Bureau, Director of the Fisheries Village Development Bureau, Director of the Port Policy Bureau, and Director of the Busan Regional Maritime and Fisheries Office. During President Roh Moo-hyun's administration in 2003, he served as Vice Minister and Minister. In the 2004 17th general election, he ran as a candidate for the Uri Party but was defeated.
Afterwards, he transformed into a photographer and held a Dokdo photo exhibition in 2017. From 2010 to 2018, he also served as chairman of the Busan Bap-Peo Sharing Community.

The funeral is being held at Korea University Anam Hospital Funeral Hall, Room 302, with the departure scheduled for 9:30 AM on the 29th. The body will be donated to Korea University College of Medicine.
