Yeosu Police Install Rear Cameras to Enable Enforcement on Four-Wheel and Two-Wheel Vehicles
4 Unmanned Traffic Enforcement Devices Installed in Rear Areas of Yeosu City Center
The Yeosu Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that they have recently installed rear enforcement cameras capable of monitoring two-wheeled vehicles at four locations, including in front of Hakdong Court, at spots with frequent motorcycle accidents and apartment noise complaints.
The existing cameras could only enforce violations when the target vehicle passed over loop lines installed on the road surface ahead of the vehicle.
The newly installed rear cameras are placed behind the target vehicles and use radar to track and enforce speeding and signal violations, employing a somewhat different method.
Since both four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles are subject to enforcement for speeding and signal violations, passing the camera does not exempt one from violations.
The rear unmanned traffic enforcement equipment is expected to operate fully starting March next year, following a three-month testing period.
