Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Files Complaint Against Parents Who Filed Multiple Malicious Complaints to Their Children's Schools
Education Office: "Obstruction of Legitimate Educational Activities"
Lawsuits and Information Disclosure Requests Against Schools
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education has reported to the police a parent who filed a large number of malicious complaints against the school their child attends.
On the 28th, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "We have reported to the police a parent who caused serious disruption to the educational activities of the school by indiscriminately filing lawsuits and complaints, requesting administrative appeals, and submitting a flood of complaints." They added, "The parent's malicious and indiscriminate complaints forced the school to spend a significant amount of time responding, thereby obstructing legitimate educational activities, severely damaging the educational capacity and credibility of the individual school, and even paralyzing the school's administrative functions."
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, the parent in question spread false information about the school principal and vice principal on a local mom caf? after their child, who was elected as the vice president of the student council in February, was disqualified due to violations of election rules and guidelines. The parent also filed seven lawsuits and complaints against the school, requested eight administrative appeals, made over 300 information disclosure requests in 29 instances, and filed 24 petitions to the National Ombudsman against the Education Support Office.
In response, the school’s School Authority Protection Committee resolved on August 17 to request the education office to file a complaint. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education held a School Authority Protection Committee meeting at the headquarters on August 23 to review and approve this request.
