CU-OB Beer, Hoegaarden and Goose Island Beer Pairing Snacks Launched
CU announced on the 24th that it will launch new snack products that pair well with popular beers Hoegaarden and Goose Island in collaboration with OB Beer. Hoegaarden and Goose Island are representative imported beer brands known for their distinctive aromas and loyal fan bases, unlike regular beers.
CU and OB Beer developed optimal pairing snacks tailored to the unique characteristics of Hoegaarden, a Belgian traditional wheat beer known for its smooth and rich flavor, and Goose Island, which features a slightly bitter yet fragrant aroma. The two companies collaborated extensively, from selecting product categories to taste reviews and sample testing. This is the first time CU has developed HMR products with a specific beer pairing in mind.
The new products introduced this time include a total of five items: two types of pasta, ‘Cream Fusilli Pasta’ and ‘Rose Fusilli Pasta,’ which pair well with Hoegaarden beer, and three items that complement Goose Island beer?‘Spicy BBQ Long Sausage,’ ‘Black Pepper Kielbasa,’ and ‘Black Pepper Buffalo Stick.’
The Hoegaarden snacks, Cream and Rose Fusilli Pasta, are packed with plenty of bacon to enhance texture while offering a smooth and savory sauce flavor. The short pasta shape improves eating convenience, and the richly absorbed sauce flavor in the noodles accentuates the smooth taste of Hoegaarden beer.
The three Goose Island snacks are designed to evoke the atmosphere of a Chicago pub, Goose Island’s hometown in the United States. The Black Pepper Kielbasa is a juicy, savory kielbasa sausage harmonized with the sharp spiciness of black pepper, which enhances the flavor of the slightly bitter craft beer.
The Black Pepper Buffalo Stick is a chicken dish evenly coated with whole black pepper and oven-roasted to a golden finish, pairing well with the aroma hop scent of Goose beer. The Spicy BBQ Long Sausage is a sausage product with added hot sauce spiciness, made in a larger size to be enjoyed generously with a can of beer.
Meanwhile, CU also launched two types of flat glass noodles, a popular ingredient these days, in spicy mala flavor and jjambbong flavor: ‘Sanrio Cinnamoroll Mala Flat Noodles’ and ‘Sanrio Kuromi’s Jjambbong Flat Noodles.’ Each package includes one of 20 randomly enclosed cute Sanrio character keyrings, featuring Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pompompurin, and others.
