Gyeonggi-do Collects 800 Million Won in Overdue Non-Tax Revenue Through Searches of Debtors' Homes and Businesses
Gyeonggi Province collected 800 million KRW in overdue payments from 'non-tax revenue' defaulters through searches of homes and business premises. Non-tax revenue refers to self-generated income imposed and collected for administrative purposes, such as usage fees, service charges, and contributions, excluding local taxes.
From March to October, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it collected 800 million KRW from 193 individuals and businesses who were delinquent on non-tax revenue through searches of their homes and business sites, and seized 990 million KRW in lease deposits from high-value tenants.
Mr. A, residing in Namyangju, failed to pay a penalty of 73 million KRW imposed for arbitrarily changing the use of a property within a development-restricted zone contrary to the building permit conditions, but paid the full overdue amount during the home search.
Gas station B in Hwaseong City, which was delinquent on road usage fees of 36 million KRW due to occupying vehicle access roads, paid 13 million KRW immediately and promised to pay the remainder in installments after a business site search was conducted.
Mr. C, residing in Yeoju City, who had signed a contract with the city for land use but had not paid the lease fee of 14 million KRW, paid the full amount after a home search was carried out.
Gyeonggi Province plans to seize movable property secured through searches of defaulters' homes and business sites, auction off high-value items, and use the proceeds to cover the overdue amounts. In addition to searches, the province will also seize real estate and vehicles registered under defaulters' names and garnish wages for employed individuals, conducting various collection activities in parallel.
