Cleaning water purifier with wet wipes used for 'Eongdeongi Ssukssuk'... Inspection staff misconduct
Headquarters Says "Cancellation Without Penalty Is Difficult" and Responds
When Saying "I Will Report," It Changed to "We Will Cancel for You"
Recently, a video showing a water purifier maintenance worker wiping the water purifier with a wet tissue used to clean his own buttocks during a visit inspection has caused a stir.
On the 21st, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' reported the related tip video. The footage was recorded by a home camera at a residence in Busan around 10:30 a.m. on the 17th.
According to the tipster, Mr. A, the water purifier maintenance worker visited the house to clean the filter. Mr. A opened the front door and continued a phone call on the veranda.
While talking on speakerphone, Mr. A turned on the home camera installed inside the house and witnessed the maintenance worker wiping his buttocks with a wet tissue.
The wet tissue used to wipe his buttocks was then used to wipe his nose and was thrown onto the floor, and the same tissue was also used to wipe the water purifier.
The tipster said, "We have the home camera because of the babies," and added, "(When I turned on the home camera,) the water purifier maintenance worker wiped his buttocks with a wet tissue, wiped his nose once, and then threw it on the floor."
He continued, "I was so shocked that I thought I might have seen it wrong, so I kept watching the home camera. But around the time he finished cleaning, he wiped his buttocks once more," and claimed, "Anyone can see that he wiped his buttocks thoroughly."
He also expressed anger, saying, "It's ridiculous that he behaved like that in someone else's house," and "He placed the tissue on the floor and the sink, and even wiped the water purifier. Who would want to use this?"
Poor Aftercare
Afterward, the tipster contacted the customer center and met the maintenance worker again. The worker explained, "It wasn't my buttocks; water splashed on my back, so I wiped it," but when shown the home camera footage, he said, "I don't think this is something I can handle," and connected the tipster to the headquarters.
The response from the headquarters also became problematic. They said, "It is completely understandable that you feel reluctant to use the product, but since this is a hygiene issue, it is fundamentally difficult to cancel the contract without a penalty."
