Park Yoon-gyu, Vice Minister of Science and ICT, "Need to Expand Affordable Phone Plans"
The Ministry of Science and ICT has called for an expansion of the release of plans in the MVNO market to alleviate household communication cost burdens and expand plan options.
On the 17th, Park Yoon-kyu, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the MVNO Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to check the implementation status of the recently announced "Measures to Alleviate Communication Cost Burdens."
Vice Minister Park checked the current status of MVNO plan releases and listened to opinions on inconveniences arising during the use of MVNO services. He also received recommendations from companies on optimal MVNO plans tailored to voice calls, data, and text message usage.
Vice Minister Park said, "To reduce the burden of household communication costs for the public, it is necessary to expand the release of more cost-effective MVNO plans," adding, "The Ministry of Science and ICT will actively promote necessary policies such as the institutionalization of the wholesale provision obligation system and reduction of radio usage fees for small and medium-sized MVNO operators."
The Ministry of Science and ICT has recently focused its efforts on alleviating the public's household communication cost burdens and expanding plan options by reforming the 5G pricing system twice.
