This concert is the final program of the 2023 Naru Connect Classic Festival, featuring bandoneonist Go Sangji and her colleagues, who are actively performing across classical and popular music genres.
The concert will showcase works by Astor Piazzolla, the Argentine tango composer and bandoneon player. The performers include Go Sangji, ▲ Choi Moonseok (piano), ▲ Yoon Jongsu (violin), ▲ Kim Aram (violin), ▲ Park Yongeun (viola), ▲ Joo Jihyun (cello), ▲ Lee Chanhee (percussion), and ▲ Kim Yuseong (bass).
Go Sangji, a performer from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), studied under the Japanese master bandoneonist Komatsu Ryota and graduated from the Emilio Balcarce Tango Orchestra School in Argentina, the birthplace of tango. Since then, she has been expanding the spectrum of the bandoneon genre through collaborations with various artists.
Han Jinseop, president of the Gwangjin Cultural Foundation, said, "This Go Sangji Band concert is a great opportunity to enjoy ‘Aconcagua,’ a famous concerto for bandoneon and orchestra by Piazzolla, in the nuevo tango style. We appreciate the support for the Naru Connect Classic Festival, which has been ongoing since October, and we will continue to strive to present programs in various genres."
