The 'Customized Nutritional Intervention Program for Esophageal Cancer Survivors,' jointly developed by Samsung Welstory and Samsung Medical Center, is one of the projects selected for the 2023 Cancer Survivorship Healthcare Research Project led by the National Cancer Center, and development has been underway since April.

This symposium was organized to exchange various information necessary for the research and development of the program and to enhance research methodologies that are practically needed for esophageal cancer survivors. To this end, about 30 experts from academia, industry, and research in the field of patient meals attended the symposium, where various keynote lectures on academic information and industry trends were presented.

After the lectures, a panel discussion was held with the participation of the head of Samsung Welstory’s R&D Center, the director of the Patient-Centered Quality of Life Research Institute at Samsung Medical Center, and representatives of esophageal cancer patients.

Samsung Welstory plans to collaborate with Samsung Medical Center until the end of 2025 to develop and provide customized meals for esophageal cancer survivors that are easy to digest while maintaining similar taste and nutrition to regular meals, considering the characteristics of esophageal cancer survivors. Additionally, they plan to develop a personalized care service model where meal recommendations, delivery, meal records, and nutritional assessment can be performed in a one-stop platform.

A Samsung Welstory official stated, "We are participating in this program development based on our expertise in care food development accumulated through group catering business and know-how in operating personalized health management services. Through this research and development project, we plan to continuously secure expertise and development references necessary for developing B2B healthcare programs."
