Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Announces Twenty Excellent Public Campsites
Produce and Award Signboards and Promote for One Year
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 8th the selection of twenty outstanding public campgrounds. These include Gangneung Yeongok Beach Solhyanggi Camping Site, Inje Life With Dog Camping Site, Taebaek Taebaeksan National Park Sodo Car Camping Site, Gwangmyeong Dodeoksan Camping Site, Ansan Ansan Hwarang Auto Camping Site, Paju Byeolnan Reading Culture Experience Camping Site, Geochang Suseungdae Camping Site, Jinju Wolasan Natural Recreation Forest Camping Site, Sancheong Naewon Car Camping Site, Yangsan Hwangsan Culture and Sports Park National Leisure Camping Site, Hapcheon Hwangmaesan National Leisure Camping Site, Andong Danho Sand Park Camping Site, Yeongcheon Starlight Camping Site, Daegu Dalseo Starlight Camp Camping Site, Gwangyang Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest Camping Site, Boseong Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest Camping Site, Jeongeup National Leisure Camping Site, Boeun Bukam Rural Experience Center Camping Site, Yeongdong Songho Tourist Site Camping Site, and Chungju Mokgye Pine Forest Camping Site.
These recreational sites were recommended by seventeen provinces nationwide and received high scores in specialized content operation, safety, and hygiene. Fourteen sites, including Wolasan Natural Recreation Forest Camping Site which offers woodworking experiences and children's library programs, were named family-friendly campgrounds. Yeongok Beach Solhyanggi Camping Site, which implements priority reservations for people with disabilities, was selected as a barrier-free campground, while Life With Dog Camping Site, equipped with pet-friendly facilities such as walking trails, swimming pools, and gyms, was chosen as a pet-friendly campground. Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest Camping Site, which operates forest healing programs and has facilities for treating camper waste water, joined as an eco-friendly campground.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will produce and award plaques titled ‘Outstanding Registered Campgrounds by Category’ and promote them through various methods for one year. Operational status will also be checked through on-site inspections. Yong Hoseong, Director of Tourism Industry Policy at the Ministry, stated, “We expect public outstanding campgrounds to lead the spread of excellent camping infrastructure.”
