Boseong-gun Hosts the 3rd Boseong Comprehensive Arts Festival

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the Boseong branch of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations (President Seo Jeong-mi) will hold the ‘2023 3rd Boseong Comprehensive Arts Festival’ at the Boseong-gun Culture and Arts Center on the 9th.

Hosted and organized by the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations Boseong branch and sponsored by Boseong-gun, this Boseong Comprehensive Arts Festival was created through performances by Boseong cultural and artistic groups and residents, featuring various exhibitions and programs.

In particular, this year’s Comprehensive Arts Festival was finally selected for the 2023 Regional Representative Performing Arts Festival support project, which was open for applications by Jeollanam-do, securing an additional 70 million KRW in project funds, making a total budget of 140 million KRW to carry out more diverse programs than in previous years.

The main programs include the ‘100-Person Pansori Sarangga Chorus Performance,’ performed by Boseong residents who have been reborn as pansori singers after special training from master singers in the hometown of sound, Boseong, and the ‘Our Neighborhood’s Specialty, We Promote It! Eup-Myeon Village Story Contest,’ which uncovers hidden stories and histories of villages throughout Boseong-gun and transforms valuable village culture into cultural tourism content.

Additionally, various performances and exhibitions by local art groups active in Boseong, such as the Purumi Arts Troupe, Boseong Sound Preservation Society, Boseong Sound Madang, Arirang Arts Troupe, Boseong Sound Changgeuk Troupe, Boseong Writers Association, Boseong Art Association, and Boseong Entertainment Artists Association, are prepared, promising a rich visual experience.

Side events include the operation of the Boseong Joomakjip (traditional tavern) and hands-on experiences in natural dyeing and accessory making.

Seo Jeong-mi, president of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations Boseong branch, said, “We have prepared a unique cultural and artistic venue for regional harmony that is distinctive to Boseong, the hometown of artistic excellence.” She added, “As this is a great opportunity for residents to enjoy together, we ask for the interest and support of many people.”
