SK Telecom announced on the 6th that it will pilot an analysis system at the Seoul Jongno and Dobong Lifelong Education Centers for People with Developmental Disabilities, which recognizes challenging behavior patterns of people with developmental disabilities using its artificial intelligence (AI) technology and detects and responds to risks in daily life. SKT held an opening ceremony for the AI-based challenging behavior analysis system for people with developmental disabilities in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government that afternoon.
This system uses CCTV equipped with Vision AI technology to analyze and automatically record challenging behaviors of people with developmental disabilities, helping behavioral experts provide solutions based on the data. Challenging behaviors of people with developmental disabilities refer to dangerous actions such as harming others or themselves or damaging objects. People with developmental disabilities, who have difficulty communicating, express emotions such as frustration through these challenging behaviors in stressful situations.
By utilizing SKT's AI technology, challenging behavior patterns of people with developmental disabilities can be recognized and analyzed, converted into text, and the duration of such behaviors can also be recorded. The system can detect a total of nine challenging behaviors: kicking, punching, pushing and pulling, falling down, head hitting (self-harm), lying down, running, wandering, and jumping. SKT expects that, together with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the system can be used in various ways, such as establishing data-driven intervention plans and collaborating with experts in welfare fields.
