Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Holds Award Ceremony for the 24th Semiconductor Design Competition
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association held the awards ceremony for the "24th Korea Semiconductor Design Competition" on the 7th at Sono Felice, COEX, Seoul, attended by executives and employees from the system semiconductor industry.
The Design Competition is an event aimed at strengthening the foundational competitiveness of the semiconductor industry by encouraging university and graduate students majoring in semiconductor design who possess creative ideas and semiconductor design skills.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy awarded a total of 20 people, including student Eom Kyung-ho from Korea University who received the Presidential Award, one person who received the Prime Minister's Award, four people who received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, two people who received the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office Award, two people who received the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association President Award, and ten people who received the Corporate Special Award.
In particular, the Presidential Award-winning work received excellent evaluations at the international conference (ISSCC) and journal (JSSC) in the field of semiconductor integrated circuits, and domestic patent registration and U.S. patent application are underway.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy also held the System Semiconductor Forum alongside the awards ceremony. At the forum, private companies such as KT, Hyundai Motor, NHN, and Samsung Electronics presented on technology trends and prospects in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, autonomous vehicles, and foundry. The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) introduced the 2024 system semiconductor research and development (R&D) planning direction.
