Suwon City Secures 24.4 Billion KRW in National Funding for Sewerage Maintenance
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province has secured 24.4 billion KRW in national funds for sewer maintenance.
On the 3rd, Suwon City announced that the Yeonghwa Drainage Basin, which was the main cause of flooding damage in the Yeonghwa-dong area last year, was designated as a "2023 Sewer Maintenance Priority Management Area" by the Ministry of Environment on the 31st of last month, securing 24.4 billion KRW in national funds.
Suwon City plans to establish sewer maintenance measures within this year, proceed with detailed design, and obtain permits.
Next year, including the 24.4 billion KRW in national funds, a total of 40.7 billion KRW will be invested to upgrade and install a total of 6.984 km of sewer pipelines in the Yeonghwa Drainage Basin and to construct a new rainwater pumping station.

A Suwon City official stated, "The Yeonghwa Drainage Basin, which suffered flooding damage last summer, was selected as a sewer maintenance priority management area and received national funding, enabling the smooth progress of flood prevention projects. We will actively strive to ensure that the flood damage relief projects for Yeonghwa-dong and Hwasan Underpass are promptly carried out."
