"A Work Culture Good for All Genders is Needed"
Female leaders from key global industries gathered to discuss the 'glass ceiling' and ways to expand the female workforce.
The UN Women Gender Equality Center held the "1st Seoul Gender Equality Dialogue: The Future of Key Industries Growing Together with Women" on the 2nd at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. Over 300 participants from the corporate, academic, and diplomatic sectors attended the event.
Kim Kyung-hee, Head of the Presidential Advisory Council on National Economy Support Group, stated, "Increasing women's participation and leadership in key industries contributes to women's career development and income growth," adding, "From a corporate perspective, it is the starting point to consider an inclusive work environment that guarantees work-family balance to utilize talented female human resources."
Seo Ji-hee, Chairperson of the Women Innovation Association, said, "Enhancing gender diversity in key industries where women's participation is particularly low is a highly effective way to improve corporate performance and drive positive organizational change, thereby boosting corporate competitiveness and, ultimately, national competitiveness."
The event featured domestic and international female leaders who have overcome gender barriers within key industries and have maintained careers for 20 to 30 years, sharing their career experiences and advice.
On the 2nd, participants are taking photos at the Seoul Gender Equality Dialogue hosted by the UN Women at The Westin Chosun Seoul Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.

As a speaker, Ahn Su-jin, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Memory Business Division, said, "Over 20 years ago, I was asked, 'Can female engineers create value and grow in the semiconductor industry?'" She added, "I think the predecessors who went before us and we ourselves, who are active in the field now, have answered that question."
Ahn Mi-seon, Deputy General Manager at POSCO E&C, stated, "The process of becoming a leader requires maturity to grow alongside senior and junior colleagues through expertise and internal and external networking," emphasizing, "A work culture that is good for everyone regardless of gender and family-friendly internal policies that support this are important."
Additionally, Sandra Benson, Vice President of Industrial Transformation at Procore Technologies and a board member of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS); Kiran Gupta, CEO of Power Link Transmission in India; and Diane Lynn, Head of Investment for the Indo-Pacific and Middle East regions at the UK Department for International Trade, participated as speakers.

Lee Jung-sim, Director of the UN Women Gender Equality Center, said, "The center will strive to identify blind spots where women's participation is relatively low and share the difficulties faced by women working in these fields."
