Park Su-young "Division of Gyeonggi Buk-do only increases politicians and officials... Global trend is Megacity"
With the People Power Party pushing for the incorporation of Gimpo City into Seoul as a party policy ahead of next year's general election, Park Soo-young, a member of the People Power Party and former head of the Yeouido Institute think tank, raised his voice, saying that the 'Gyeonggi Bukdo division theory' only increases politicians and public officials, and that a mega-city integrating Seoul's surrounding areas such as Gimpo is a global trend.
On the 1st, Park stated on his social media (SNS), "Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon advocates for the division of Gyeonggi Bukdo, but the division theory does not align with global trends, hinders urban development, and will only result in benefits for politicians and public officials."

Park criticized the Gyeonggi Bukdo division theory, saying, "If division occurs, not only will new governors, vice governors, directors, and bureau chiefs be created, but dozens of affiliated organizations will be established, and various government-related groups will also expand." He pointed out, "When Daegu was elevated to a metropolitan city in 1981, the number of public officials doubled (from 5,543 to 9,400), and when Gwangju was elevated to a metropolitan city in 1986, the number of public officials tripled (from 2,641 to 6,608), and operating expenses increased fourfold (from 21.7 billion won to 94.1 billion won)."
