Hankyung Association Hires Compliance Professionals for Transparent Management
Application Deadline Until November 6
Dedicated Compliance Team Establishment Still Pending
The Korea Economic Association (HanKyungHyup), which has rebranded and started anew, is hiring a compliance (legal monitoring) expert for the first time to promote transparent management.
HanKyungHyup recently announced the "Second Half New Graduate and Experienced Staff Open Recruitment" and is accepting applications until November 6. For the first time this year, the recruitment field includes hiring candidates with more than three years of experience in compliance work. During the Korea Federation of Economic Organizations era, HanKyungHyup did not separately recruit compliance professionals but hired those with experience in corporate legal teams or fair trade work.

View original imageThe decision to include compliance professionals in the recruitment fields and preference criteria for the first time and actively hire them is analyzed to be closely related to HanKyungHyup’s demonstration of its commitment to ethical and transparent management by establishing an Ethics Committee. Generally, compliance work in companies includes legal compliance, legal monitoring, and internal control, meaning the control and supervision to ensure that company executives and employees adhere to all relevant laws and regulations. As the importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management has increased, many companies are creating dedicated compliance departments.
HanKyungHyup has about 70 employees in total, so it is not yet considering establishing a specialized compliance department. However, in the organizational restructuring planned within this year, it is expected to strengthen compliance work to enable more transparent management of membership fees and funds in response to member companies’ demands for transparency.
HanKyungHyup plans to complete the organizational restructuring within this year and finalize the list of new member companies ahead of the regular general meeting in February next year. Afterwards, it will send official letters requesting membership fee payments to new members, including the four major groups: Samsung, Hyundai Motor, SK, and LG.

To completely resolve the past controversies over collusion between politics and business and to redefine its role as a global think tank economic organization, HanKyungHyup elected Ryu Jin, chairman of Poongsan, who has strong domestic and international networks, as the new chairman, and launched an Ethics Committee chaired by former Constitutional Court Justice Mok Young-jun. Additionally, it is making efforts to strengthen communication with the public by planning the second session of "Gotsaenghankki," an event featuring mentors such as Park Hyun-joo, chairman of Mirae Asset Group, and Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver, scheduled for December.
