This meeting was Kim's first field visit related to economic affairs since President Yoon Seok-yeol ordered on the 19th to "delve into the lives of the people and directly hear their vivid voices" at the Presidential Office. About ten people attended the meeting, including President Oh, Kim Seong-seop, Secretary for Small and Medium Ventures, and heads of small business sector organizations.
During the meeting, they shared the current issues faced by small business owners whose sustainability and self-reliance have deteriorated due to complex crises, and emphasized the need for the government to actively prepare support measures. The Federation proposed agenda items such as resolving loan difficulties to strengthen small business owners' self-reliance, measures to enhance competitiveness through revitalizing domestic demand, and implementing customized education tailored to life cycles for sustainability. The in-depth discussion exceeded the originally planned time, lasting about two hours.
President Oh stated, "After nearly three years of COVID-19, we expected sales to increase, but due to changes in consumption trends and a slowdown in consumption, sales and operating profits have not yet fully recovered. Now, facing complex crises that are forcing closures, concerns on the ground are growing," and requested, "Please take active interest from the Presidential Office so that small business owners, the lifeblood of our economy, can fully play their role in national economic development."
