KPGA Baeksong Holdings-Asiad CC Busan Open... Total Prize Money 1 Billion KRW
The KPGA Korean Tour 'Baeksong Holdings-Asiad CC Busan Open' will be held for four days from the 26th to the 29th at the Asiad Country Club Pine and Lake Courses (Par 71 / 7,103 yards) located in Gijang, Busan.
Now in its second year, this tournament is the only men's professional golf event in Busan. Hosted by Asiad Country Club, this year Baeksong Holdings, a construction company centered in Busan, joined as a co-sponsor, expanding the scale of the tournament.
The total prize money for the tournament is 1 billion KRW, and the winner will receive 200 million KRW as the winner's prize plus an additional 200 million KRW in cash as a bonus, totaling 400 million KRW for the champion.
This amount surpasses the winner's prize money of major-level tournaments on this season's KPGA Korean Tour, which is expected to further raise the players' competitive spirit.
As the season nears its end, the competition for the Genesis Points ranking is fierce. Key KPGA players such as Ham Jeong-woo, who recently won the 'Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Choi Kyung-ju Invitational' and rose to first place in Genesis Points, along with Han Seung-soo, Park Sang-hyun, and Ko Gun-taek, will participate.
Also, Kim Sung-hyun, who debuted on the PGA Tour this year, will participate in his second KPGA Korean Tour event of the season following the '39th Shinhan Donghae Open.'
Hwang Jung-gon, who became the 'inaugural champion' after three playoff battles in 2022, will challenge to defend his title.
Player Hwang Jung-gon is currently ranked 9th in Genesis Points (3,605.32 points) and 16th in Genesis prize money ranking (approximately 307.14 million KRW). If Hwang successfully defends his title in this tournament, depending on other players' results, he could rise to first place in Genesis Points.
Hwang said, "As the defending champion, I have prepared diligently," adding, "Since the tournament is held on a different course than last year, quickly adapting to the course will be key."
He continued, "I gained a lot of confidence from the previous tournament, the 'Genesis Championship,' so I will do my best to successfully defend my title."
Tickets for the Baeksong Holdings-Asiad CC Busan Open can be purchased on the Yes24 website. Busan citizens receive a 50% discount, and preschool children can enter free of charge.
