Uniqlo Unveils 'Ultra Light,' the Thinnest Heattech Material
20th Anniversary Release Upgrade Lineup
Uniqlo celebrated the 20th anniversary of its flagship moisture-absorbing and heat-retaining functional clothing, HEATTECH, by unveiling a newly improved HEATTECH lineup on the 23rd, featuring the thinnest material ever applied in the ‘HEATTECH Ultra Light’.
HEATTECH is a functional moisture-absorbing and heat-retaining garment that uses technology where ultra-fine fibers absorb water vapor generated by the body and convert it into heat energy. Since its first launch in 2003, HEATTECH has reached a global cumulative sales volume of approximately 1.5 billion units (as of 2022). It is also a representative item reflecting Uniqlo’s ‘LifeWear’ philosophy, which provides a better everyday life for everyone through simple designs and high-quality casual wear.
The newly released ‘HEATTECH Ultra Light Turtleneck T’ is a women’s lineup product featuring the thinnest material ever used in HEATTECH. Made from ultra-microfiber, this product is about 20% lighter than the original HEATTECH and features a fluffy knit with air pockets, providing excellent warmth. It maintains the same warmth as the original HEATTECH while offering a soft and comfortable fit with a suitably thin thickness. Available in various colors, it can be styled not only as innerwear but also as a layering item, making it versatile for the cold season.

Alongside this, Uniqlo has upgraded some specifications of the HEATTECH lineup. The women’s lineup has switched to printed care labels for a softer feel and added skin-tone color options to the basic innerwear items. The men’s line has also improved materials for enhanced comfort and introduced a variety of colors. In particular, the ‘HEATTECH Ultra Warm’ lineup uses a new material with a special knit technology that traps more air, maintaining the same level of warmth as before while becoming softer and lighter. Products made with recycled nylon materials have also been added to some HEATTECH lineup items.
