"Take the Digestive" Boss Secretly Drugs Female Employee with Sleeping Pills and Commits Sexual Assault
A company president who drugged a female employee with a digestive aid and then raped her was sentenced to prison.
The 12th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Sang-gyu) sentenced A (in his 40s to 50s), who was indicted on charges including rape causing injury, to five years in prison and ordered him to attend 40 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures on the 20th.
Mr. A was brought to trial on charges of sexually assaulting a female employee after giving her a digestive aid drink laced with drugs.
After a company dinner, he acted as if taking care of the intoxicated female employee and gave her a digestive aid containing the sleeping pill ingredients zolpidem and triazolam.
When the victim fell into a deep sleep, he took her to a nearby hotel room and sexually assaulted her by touching specific parts of her body.
Mr. A denied some charges (causing injury), claiming that the crime occurred impulsively.
The court explained, "The victim is believed to have experienced extreme sexual humiliation and psychological trauma, and she ended up quitting her long-term job."
