Gwangju Jaehyang Firefighters Association, Volunteer Installation of Residential Fire Safety Equipment
On the 18th, the Gwangju Retired Firefighters Association announced on the 19th that it conducted a volunteer activity to install residential fire safety equipment for vulnerable groups in the Nongseong 2-dong and Hwajeong 3-dong areas of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
On this day, the joint effort was a public-private collaboration led by the Gwangju Retired Firefighters Association, a nonprofit organization of retired fire officials. They visited 18 fire-vulnerable households, including elderly living alone, in the Nongseong 2-dong and Hwajeong 3-dong areas under the jurisdiction of the Gwangju Western Fire Station, installing fire extinguishers and standalone smoke detectors.
Park Man-hwan, president of the Gwangju Retired Firefighters Association, said, "We hope that the fire extinguishers and standalone smoke detectors will help ensure the safety of households vulnerable to fire. We will continue to strive to create a safe city of Gwangju based on the knowledge gained from working as firefighters."
