It is the most prestigious award in the urban sector given to local governments that have made efforts to improve residents’ quality of life and urban competitiveness.
The evaluation is conducted in four areas: ▲urban society ▲urban economy ▲urban culture ▲support system, and submitted documents on excellent policies are first assessed. Then, local governments that pass the document evaluation undergo on-site inspections to finally select the award-winning local governments.
Goseong-gun received high evaluations for population-related policies such as the Youth Dream Voucher Support Project and the Childcare Copayment Support Project, as well as economic policies including the designation of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Comprehensive Town Investment Leading District, the resumption of the Yangchon and Yongjeong District projects, and efforts to restore fiscal soundness. This marked the first time Goseong-gun has won an award since the Korea Urban Awards began.
