Gyeonggi-do Conducts Hygiene Inspections at 1,598 Group Meal Facilities in Childcare Centers with 50 or More Children
Gyeonggi Province will conduct hygiene inspections at 1,598 group meal service centers in daycare centers.
On the 18th, Gyeonggi Province announced that by November 3, it will carry out inspections targeting 1,598 group meal service centers in daycare centers with 50 or more meal recipients, in cooperation with city and county governments, to prevent food poisoning in advance.
The main inspection items include ▲use or storage of products past their expiration (or shelf life) date ▲unsanitary food handling ▲use of spoiled, deteriorated, or unlabeled ingredients ▲hygiene of meal service facilities such as equipment washing and disinfection ▲storage of reserved food ▲personal hygiene such as wearing hygiene caps.
Foods deemed to pose a risk of food poisoning during the inspection will be collected and sent to the Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment for testing.
The collected test items include enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, norovirus, and others. Additionally, an emergency contact network and rapid response system with related agencies will be operated at all times to respond to group food poisoning outbreaks.
