Yangcheon-gu Conducts Comprehensive Survey of Vehicle Access Roads to Prevent Unauthorized Road Occupation
Comprehensive Survey of 1,167 Pedestrian Crossing Vehicle Entrances and Unauthorized Entrances in the Region by February Next Year... Focused Inspection on Road Occupancy Permit Status and Proper Management of Permit Holders
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced plans to conduct a comprehensive survey by February next year on 1,167 vehicle access points on sidewalks and unauthorized access routes within the district to verify road occupancy permits and assess management appropriateness in order to create a safe and pleasant walking environment.
Vehicle access points are facilities installed on sidewalks to allow vehicles traveling on the road to enter building parking lots, and must obtain road occupancy permits from the district office. If these facilities are damaged due to vehicle traffic or poor management, the permit holder is required to restore them to their original condition. However, many fail to properly fulfill this obligation, resulting in ongoing complaints related to vehicle access points.
Accordingly, the district has formed an inspection team of six employees from the Construction Management Division to thoroughly check the 1,167 vehicle access points with road occupancy permits by February next year. The inspection will focus on ▲whether the occupancy area matches the permit ▲the appropriateness of the permit holder’s management and whether unauthorized expansion or damage causes pedestrian inconvenience ▲and whether rights and obligations have been transferred following changes in building ownership. If any vehicle access points are found damaged, the district plans to take necessary administrative actions such as ordering the permit holders to restore them.
Additionally, unauthorized users who operate vehicle access points without road occupancy permits will be subject to administrative guidance, including fines, and required to obtain permits before continued use.
