In his welcoming remarks, Bae Jae-gyu, CEO of Korea Investment Trust Management, said, "Ten years ago, only two of the top 10 companies by market capitalization in the global stock market were technology companies, but now nine out of ten are tech companies," adding, "In the digital economy era, tech companies are creating primary value through innovation."
He continued, "The financial industry is also at the center of this change, and Korea Investment Trust Management is making efforts to introduce AI and digital technologies throughout its business," emphasizing, "I want to stress the phrase, 'The world has changed, so we must change.'"
CEO Bae also stated, "The integration of AI and digital technology will provide new opportunities for the asset management industry, which faces many challenges," but stressed, "In this process, each asset management professional must develop expertise to verify the accuracy of AI-generated answers, and AI should be used as an augmentation tool to extend human capabilities."
The main event of the conference began with a keynote speech by Chairman Chun. He spoke about "A New Era of Quantitative Analysis Using GPT," forecasting that "more than 90% of existing analytical tasks could be automated by utilizing GPT technology."
Following the keynote, lectures by experts from various fields were held, including Sung Chang-hwan, portfolio manager at Invesco, and Mohammad Hassan, head of Asia-Pacific dividend forecasting at S&P Global Market Intelligence.
