Suncheon Citizen's Day Commemoration Ceremony Held

Hwang Geum-yeong Receives the "Citizen's Award"

Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do announced that the 29th Suncheon Citizens' Day commemorative ceremony will be held on the 15th at 2 p.m. in the multipurpose hall of the Culture and Health Center.

About 350 citizens will attend the ceremony, which will be conducted simply to reflect on the significance of Citizens' Day with the presentation of the 'Citizen Award' given to those who have greatly contributed to regional development, commemorative speeches, performances, and congratulatory performances by the municipal choir.

The 'Suncheon Citizen Award' will be presented to Hwang Geum-yeong, CEO of Suncheon Pig Farm.

On the 5th, the Citizens' Day Event Promotion Committee (Chairman Seo Gil-won) reviewed four recommended candidates, selected one candidate, reported to the mayor, and the mayor made the final decision on the awardee.

Hwang Geum-yeong, the recipient of the Suncheon Citizen Award, has greatly contributed to the development of the local livestock industry by realizing a sustainable livestock farming model through 50 years of pig farming and complex livestock management. He also contributed to reducing oxygen emissions in the community by fostering forest resources for the local low-carbon movement, planting various trees on 89.3 hectares of forest land around the pigsty.

Additionally, he has been highly evaluated for his contributions to the community through both material and spiritual support by serving as president of organizations such as the Suncheon Saemaul Association, Forests of Jeonnam, and the Jeonnam Social Organizations Federation, as well as continuously donating funds for local community development, including the Suncheon Talent Development Scholarship Foundation, Suncheon University Development Support Foundation, and regular support for vulnerable groups in the region.

The Citizens' Day celebration event to be held on October 31 at Ocheon Green Square is being prepared as a grand harmony event that all citizens can enjoy, so we hope many citizens will participate.”
