[One Day 10,000 Steps One Day 1,000 Characters] Walking 10,000 Steps Along Yangjaecheon... Which Course?
Gangnam-gu held a health walking experience event at Yangjaecheon on the 11th from 1:30 PM to 5 PM. About 500 participants started under the southern end of Yeongdong 5-gyo Bridge and walked approximately 6 km (about 10,000 steps). This event was not just a simple walking event but an experiential event where participants could immediately check the effects of walking through physical activity tests conducted before and after walking. At the event held in April, over 400 participants experienced a significant effect of reduced postprandial blood sugar after walking 10,000 steps.
Reflecting the support and demands of the residents, the number of participants was increased by 100, and a total of 500 participants were pre-registered by September. Additionally, the physical activity test items were newly changed, and this time pre- and post-event blood lipid tests were conducted. Medical staff and employees from Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital set up a temporary clinic near Yeongdong 5-gyo Bridge and provided various medical services to about 500 citizens participating in the event. Customized health consultations were offered along with acupuncture treatment according to symptoms, and taping was applied in cases where joint instability of the ankle or knee was a concern.

Walking exercise is highly effective in strengthening the spine and joints and promoting blood circulation, thereby preventing various adult diseases and musculoskeletal disorders. However, suddenly increasing walking distance or walking excessively for a long time with incorrect posture can instead put a burden on the spine and joints, so caution is necessary.
The walking course starts from the southern end of Yeongdong 5-gyo Bridge, passes Yeongdong 6-gyo Bridge, the confluence of Yangjaecheon and Tancheon, Daechi Bridge, Yeongdong 3-gyo Bridge, Yeongdong 4-gyo Bridge, and returns to the starting point, covering a total distance of 6 km. The expected duration is 1 hour and 20 minutes. To add fun to the walk, a stamp tour was held at six locations along the course. Upon completing the walk, participants received a health package according to the number of stamps collected.
