Amid the National Assembly's rejection of nominee Lee Gyun-yong's appointment as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Lee stated, "My hope is that a distinguished person will quickly come to fill the vacancy of the Chief Justice and bring stability to the judiciary."
About an hour after the National Assembly rejected the appointment proposal, around 3:55 p.m. on the 6th, Lee responded to reporters' questions about his feelings in front of a building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, where the hearing preparation team's office is located.

Lee did not answer questions regarding his future plans, such as whether he intends to return to his position as a judge or plans to dispose of the unlisted stocks that were controversial during the hearing process.

The appointment proposal for Lee submitted to the National Assembly was rejected in the plenary session that day, with 118 votes in favor, 175 against, and 2 abstentions out of 295 members present.
