DMZ Exhibition Opens in Yeoncheon on the 6th... 18 Artists Participating Until July 5
The DMZ exhibition opened on the 6th in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced that the exhibition "DMZ Exhibition: Checkpoint," organized as part of the DMZ Open Festival, opened in Yeoncheon starting that day, following its previous showing in Paju.
The opening ceremony held at Sintan-ri Station in Yeoncheon began with opening remarks by General Director Im Mijeong. Curator Kim Seonjeong, who planned the exhibition, along with participating artists, viewed the works installed at Sintan-ri Station, Daegwang-ri Station, and Sinmang-ri Station, and concluded by sharing their thoughts at the final exhibition venue, Yeongang Gallery.
This exhibition, featuring a total of 18 artists, runs until the 5th of next month at Yeongang Gallery in Yeoncheon and at three stations along the Gyeongwon Line (Sintan-ri Station, Daegwang-ri Station, Sinmang-ri Station).
Gyeonggi Province is also organizing various festivals around the exhibition venues.
Before entering Yeongang Gallery, visitors can enjoy the red Kochia plants and blooming autumn cosmos flowers at the Imjingang Kochia Park. After passing Yeongang Gallery and climbing the hillside, the Taepung Observatory offers views of the Ojang-dong Farm, a collective farm in North Korea located 1.6 km away, and the Gwijeon-ri village.
For visitors without private vehicles, public transportation is available. From the Seoul Art Sonje Center, an exhibition guided bus tour departs every Saturday at 9:30 AM from the 14th of this month until the 4th of next month. To apply for the tour, visit the official DMZ Open Festival website (https://dmzopen.kr/).
The DMZ Open Festival, hosted by Gyeonggi Province, is a comprehensive festival held throughout the northern DMZ area of Gyeonggi to promote the ecological, peace, and historical values of the DMZ through various events such as performances, exhibitions, academic activities, and sports.
