Governor Kim attended the ‘27th Senior Citizens Day’ ceremony held at Suwon Noblesse Wedding Convention on the 6th and stated, "As the population decreases over time, the issue of elderly care will become very important, so we are paying close attention to care issues," adding, "I want to implement the four care policies as a series, and especially reflect elderly care significantly in next year’s budget projects."
He continued, "First is care for all age groups including the elderly, which we named ‘Care for Everyone,’" and added, "We will create comprehensive measures for those who are not receiving proper care."
In particular, he introduced, "Second is the integration of early childhood education and care (kindergartens and daycare centers) including infants and toddlers, and care for kindergarten and elementary school students with working parents. Third is care for people with disabilities, including opportunities for income," and then emphasized, "Lastly, there is care for companion animals. I believe this will cover care throughout the life cycle."
He also promised, "Last year, the government cut the budget for senior job programs, but Gyeonggi Province added to the budget beyond the original plan and will take a more active approach to senior employment issues next year as well."
Meanwhile, as of August this year, the population aged 65 and over in Gyeonggi Province is approximately 2.077 million, accounting for 15.25% of the total population (13.62 million), marking its entry into an aged society. If this trend continues, it is expected to enter a super-aged society by 2028.
