Jeonnam Police Secure Peaceful Public Order During Chuseok Holiday
Jeonnam Police announced on the 4th that as a result of implementing the 'Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Security Measures,' 112 emergency calls decreased by an average of 2.5% per day compared to last year's Chuseok holiday, maintaining a peaceful security status without any major incidents or accidents.
The measures were carried out over 16 days from September 18 to October 3.
Considering the increase in 112 calls and traffic volume during the Chuseok holiday compared to usual, efforts were focused on ▲pre-inspection of crime-prone areas ▲visible patrol activities ▲ensuring traffic safety and minimizing traffic inconvenience.
First, the Police Crime Prevention Diagnosis Team (CPO) centered on police stations conducted security assessments and crime prevention promotions at vulnerable locations such as financial institutions and jewelry stores.
Visible patrol activities were carried out together with cooperative organizations such as neighborhood watch groups at locations requested by residents, allowing residents to spend the Chuseok holiday with peace of mind through crime prevention efforts.
Additionally, since an increase in domestic violence reports was anticipated during the holiday period, careful management was conducted, including monitoring households at risk of recurrence.
Police proactively deployed officers to congested areas such as large marts and public cemeteries, managing traffic with a focus on smooth flow, conducting round-the-clock sobriety checks at vulnerable spots like restaurant districts, and intensively patrolling accident-prone areas, resulting in a 31.7% average daily decrease in traffic accidents compared to the previous year.
Along with this, real-time traffic information such as Chuseok holiday traffic conditions and safety driving campaigns including seatbelt use promotion were conducted to alleviate public inconvenience.
