Commemoration Ceremony Attended by Kang Eun-hee and Yoon Seok-jun
Daegu Gongsan Elementary School (Principal Kim Mi-ok) held the ‘100th Anniversary Ceremony’ and the ‘Memorial Tower Unveiling Ceremony’ on the 3rd, inviting Kang Eun-hee, Superintendent of Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, Yoon Seok-jun, Mayor of Dong-gu, Kwon Ki-hoon, Daegu City Council member, and alumni.
Daegu Gongsan Elementary School was established on October 2, 1923, as Gongsan Public Elementary School with two classes. It went through the names Gongsan Public Simang Elementary School, Gongsan Public Elementary School, Daegu Gongsan National School, and became the current Daegu Gongsan Elementary School on March 1, 1996. To date, it has produced 7,429 graduates active in various fields.

View original imageThe 100th anniversary ceremony and Harmony Festival included pre-ceremony events (Nanta performance by current students, Aranggogo Janggu performance), commemorative events (welcome speech, congratulatory speech, cake cutting ceremony, etc.), and the memorial tower unveiling ceremony.
Kim Mi-ok, principal of Daegu Gongsan Elementary School, said, “We will continue to open the future through learning, cooperation, and communication under the motto of being upright, wise, and strong children. Based on the proud history and tradition of 100 years, students, parents, and faculty will take a strong step forward today for the thousand-year dream with one heart.”
Chae Jong-wook, chairman of the 100th Anniversary Promotion Committee, said, “I thank the alumni and executives who cooperated in carrying out the 100th anniversary ceremony despite their busy schedules. The alumni association will continue to support Gongsan Elementary School to develop further with pride in its 100 years.”
Kang Eun-hee, Superintendent of Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, delivered a congratulatory speech, saying, “I sincerely thank the Gongsan Elementary family who have produced numerous talents over the past 100 years and practiced true education with one heart and mind. I hope many people, including alumni, will continue to be a strong support so that Gongsan Elementary’s juniors can further develop their reputation and tradition.”
