After Providing Bid Information, Golf Trip Entertainment... Ministry of the Interior and Safety Reveals 'Public Official Corruption' Cases
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 4th that from March 6 to June 16, it conducted a '100-Day Special Inspection on Public Service Corruption' targeting local government officials in a joint effort with city and provincial governments, and disclosed cases of violations.
This special inspection focused on major public service corruption issues that have not been eradicated in local governments, such as various illicit interventions exploiting the positions of high-ranking officials, local entrenched corruption including unfair preferential treatment, and lax public service discipline such as passive administration. As a result, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety detected a total of 28 cases and requested disciplinary actions including severe penalties for 86 individuals, while 16 cities and provinces detected a total of 262 cases and are processing disciplinary actions for 245 individuals.
Additionally, to raise awareness about public service corruption, the results of this special inspection were disseminated to each local government and published on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s website.

Deputy Minister Ko Gi-dong of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated, “The significance of this special inspection lies in the fact that the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and city and provincial governments concentrated their inspection capabilities for 100 days to convey a firm determination to eradicate corruption among local government officials to the public service community.” He added, “While strictly disciplining corrupt acts that do not meet the public’s expectations, we will also provide support and encouragement to actively working public officials so that morale is not lowered due to the inspections.”
