Yun Byeongtae, Mayor of Naju, Conducts On-Site Inspection on First Day of Public Transportation Route Reorganization
Naju City in Jeollanam-do fully implemented the city bus route reorganization, a key initiative under the banner of a major public transportation transformation, on the 2nd.
According to Naju City, starting from this day, along with the route reorganization connecting ‘metropolitan buses - city buses - village buses,’ a new ‘express bus’ route that operates and stops quickly at major hubs in Naju, Yeongsanpo, and the Innovation City was introduced.
Yoon Byung-tae, mayor of Naju, visited the transfer hub bus stop in Nampyeong-eup on the afternoon of the Chuseok holiday to check the status of route reorganization guidance. He then personally took metropolitan bus number 997 (Ujeong-ro) to Bitgaram-dong, Yeongsanpo, and Yeongsanpo Terminal to gather feedback from passengers.
Especially at Naju Terminal, he spent a long time thoroughly inspecting the route maps and timetables for metropolitan buses, city buses, village buses, and express buses. He also engaged in conversations with citizens waiting to use the buses, listening to their inconveniences and complaints.
Based on the opinions raised by citizens he met that day, Mayor Yoon instructed the relevant departments to secure visibility of transfer hub timetables by eup and myeon, improve bus stop facilities for passenger convenience, promote city administration using bus interior seats and walls, and repair electronic display boards for guidance.
He also ordered the differentiation of vehicle exterior designs to identify city buses and village buses, the attachment of information boards indicating routes and directions on the front of village bus vehicles, and the reorganization of timetables, including advancing operating times for early morning commuters by comparing existing and reorganized bus departure times.
He urged bus drivers and transfer guidance assistants to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the changed routes to prevent passenger confusion and provide meticulous guidance.
Mayor Yoon particularly emphasized the need to ensure that route information, arrival status, and operation details are displayed in real-time on widely used apps and portal sites such as KakaoMap and Naver.
He also requested officials from Naju Transportation, the bus operating company, to promptly update and post changed materials inside buses, including route maps, timetables, and promotional guidance texts.
Among the public transportation routes reorganized and implemented from this day, including metropolitan buses, city buses, village buses, and express bus operation systems, the ‘metropolitan bus’ operates from Yeongsanpo and Naju, passing through major hubs to Gwangju Metropolitan City.
The ‘city bus’ operates from Naju and Yeongsanpo to eup and myeon administrative welfare center bus stops, and the ‘village bus,’ which passengers transfer to after boarding or alighting city buses, runs on a total of 16 routes, increasing frequency to natural villages from eup and myeon centers more frequently than before.
The ‘express buses’ that connect major hubs in Innovation City and the old downtown area in a short time are two routes: ‘Naju Express 01’ and ‘Yeongsanpo Express 02.’
The reorganized public transportation routes and timetables can be checked on the Naju City Hall website popup or under sector-specific information (Transportation·Automobiles - City Bus Route Reorganization). Complaints or inconveniences regarding the changed routes are accepted through the city hall website or eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers.
Mayor Yoon said, “We will do our best to ensure that the reorganized routes quickly become part of citizens’ daily lives and settle successfully by promoting them, continuously checking for inconveniences raised during the early implementation stage, and collecting citizens’ opinions as much as possible so that there are no difficulties in using public transportation.”
