Gurye-mil Jjajangmyeon Festival Held
“From the Sacred Soil of Gurye: The Taste of Earth, Hand, and Fire That Moves You”
Irresistible Gurye Wheat Jjajangmyeon Grown in Healthy Soil
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the "2023 Gurye Wheat Jjajangmyeon Festival" for two days from October 13 to 14 at Seosicheon Park in Gurye-eup.
Hosted by the Gurye Wheat Jjajangmyeon Festival Promotion Committee and sponsored by Gurye-gun, this event was prepared to share the value and importance of soil through tasting jjajangmyeon made with Gurye wheat grown in healthy soil and to promote the excellence of Gurye wheat.
About 500 people, including domestic political and government officials related to soil restoration and climate crisis response, agricultural organizations, and local residents, will attend. The event will feature exhibitions related to Gurye wheat and soil, tasting events, and sales of local agricultural products.
County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "We have created an opportunity to widely promote Gurye wheat through jjajangmyeon, which is loved by people of all ages," adding, "We hope that visitors who taste Gurye wheat at this event will come back for more, thereby promoting the consumption of Gurye wheat and increasing farmers' income."
Meanwhile, Gurye-gun held the first-ever soil restoration proclamation ceremony by a local government in April and a soil restoration National Assembly forum in June to build public consensus on the importance of soil restoration and is working toward the successful hosting of the Carbon Neutral Soil Restoration Expo next year.
