Korea Student Aid Foundation Provides 3 Million Won Each to 700 Middle and High School Students at Risk of Dropping Out
The Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byeong-il) selected 700 SOS scholarship recipients for the 2023 second semester 'Lottery Fund Dream Ladder Scholarship Project' on the 27th.
The purpose of the SOS scholarship is to support middle and high school students who are in crisis due to disasters, the death or unemployment of parents, etc., so that they do not have to interrupt their studies. In particular, for the 2023 second semester, the number of recipients was expanded from the original 100 to 700 to provide more active support to students in crisis situations.
Applications for this SOS scholarship were accepted from August 8 to September 1, and a total of 1,269 students applied. Professional committee members recommended by the national education offices evaluated the applicants' academic plans and the urgency of their need for support, selecting 700 students.
Selected scholarship recipients will receive a scholarship of 300,000 KRW per month for 10 months, totaling 3 million KRW, and will be supported in various ways to continue their studies stably through diverse educational programs such as psychological counseling.
