BPA Special Safety Inspection of Port Facilities Ahead of Chuseok Holiday
Busan Port Authority (BPA) is conducting a special safety inspection from the 19th to the 27th to ensure the safety of citizens visiting major port facilities in Busan Port during the Chuseok holiday period.
As the number of visitors to the North Port redevelopment area and Gamman Citizen Pier is expected to increase during the holiday, BPA has focused its inspections on these sites.
Since the 19th, the BPA Port Regeneration Project Team has formed an on-site safety inspection team to check the safety management status of the entire North Port redevelopment project area, including citizen open areas such as the aerial pedestrian bridge connecting Busan Station and the International Passenger Terminal, waterfront parks, scenic waterways, as well as non-open areas such as roads and bridges.
In particular, to prevent safety accidents caused by unauthorized access to non-open sections, safety facilities were installed and their management status was inspected. Any damaged facilities or areas requiring improvement are planned to be addressed before the Chuseok holiday.
On the morning of the 27th, the day before the holiday, a joint on-site inspection of multi-use facilities such as the International Passenger Terminal and the International Line Goods Distribution Center will be conducted under the leadership of Hong Seong-jun, BPA’s Head of Operations.
The inspection will involve the Busan Port Facilities Management Center, the entrusted management company, along with BPA’s facility, operations, and safety personnel.
The inspection team will focus on establishing safety order by checking the condition of safety signs and securing emergency evacuation routes, as well as identifying potential hazards in the facilities to ensure safe use by the increased number of users during the holiday period.
To prevent disasters caused by adverse weather such as heavy rain and strong winds during the holiday, the mooring and securing status of vessels at small ship collective mooring areas were also inspected.
Additionally, BPA plans to ensure thorough safety by updating the emergency communication system among related organizations to enable immediate response to any emergencies that may occur during the Chuseok holiday period.
The inspection team is checking the safety of the bridges and the condition of the drainage channels in the Bukhang redevelopment area.
